Malta is a great place to get away to with kids of all ages. You will be sure to find something here that the whole family will enjoy. Spend a few days on the beach, spend a few days exploring the culture and history and get everything you hope for out of a family vacation. Here are a few of my favorite things to do in Malta when I go with my family.
Gozo – If you really want to experience a true getaway, the island of Gozo is worth a visit. Often called the fruit basket of Malta, your whole family can enjoy snorkeling off of the cost or swimming in the large seawater lake. Gozo is a small island, but there are plenty of tiny and picturesque villages. While your kids may not appreciate the views, they will love the wildlife and chance to play outdoors. Gozo is a great home base for a family trip to Malta.
Jeep Safari – Whether or not you decide to stay on the island of Gozo, consider booking a jeep safari around the island. This is a great way for your older kids to explore the exotic landscape in a fun way. This might not be ideal for kids who still need a car seat, but older kids will love the bumpy ride and a chance to see some of the more remote areas.
The Westin Dragonara Resort – If you want more of a resort or spa experience, the Westin Dragonara is one where you won’t feel out of place with kids. This resort offers indoor and outdoor swimming pools, air-conditioned rooms, and access to a variety of activities that you and your kids can enjoy, such as parasailing, wine hour and other beach activities aimed at a younger audience. If you are looking for an easy getaway with everything at your fingertips, this is the way to go.
Playmobil Fun Park – If you have younger kids, visiting the Playmobil fun park can be a great way to spend an afternoon. This spot is pretty unique as you get a chance to visit the Playmobil factory and see how the toys are made. You can even make your own figure. The fun park is not particularly large, but does offer a bit of play space where your kids can interact with Playmobil products in a fun setting. There is also a shop where you can buy Playmobil products at a discount. If your kids like Playmobil, add this to your to-do list. Adults are free after 1 pm, so you can plan accordingly.
